My long-time creative collaborator and I have been working on a cool video for my Ko-Fi page! I cannot wait to share it here. Look for it sometime in July. It's definitely going to be an

First Book Research Anniversary
Today is a milestone! This is a bigger deal than my first wedding anniversary because book research is trickier than marriage. I'm using today to appreciate all I've accomplished instead of focusing on all there is left to do. Yay!
Business Cards
Why does having a project-specific business card design add gravitas to my research? I've no idea, but it does. Never mind that I have accumulated a year's worth of weighty, highly detailed information about J. Somehow, having a stack of 3.5" x 2" printed paper at my disposal makes everything feel real-real. I suppose this … Continue reading Business Cards
Change of Scenery
We moved house last week. I have a beautiful, spacious new writing studio. I'm still unpacking books, hanging art, and putting everything in its place. I'll share after pics as soon as I can. Before
Catching Up
I can hardly believe that is has been a month since my last post! Totally unintentional. I've been incredibly busy, with both J and non-J pursuits. During my absence, I accomplished almost a ridiculous amount of research. I made working on "lists" my priority. Let's back up for a moment. I spent almost three months … Continue reading Catching Up
Why Ko-fi?
You may have noticed the new Ko-fi button hanging out on the sidebar here or on A Small Press Life. First of all, let me assure you that it's truly a no-pressure thing. Reading for Pleasure?
Stop the presses! Earlier this week, I read a book for pleasure for the first time since I started my research. For those of you not keeping track, I've been working on my bio of J for around three and a half months. After reading three books in just over 24 hours, I got on … Continue reading Reading for Pleasure?
Brainstorming Chart
I have a lot to do, wouldn't you say? My brainstorming sessions have produced hundreds of items, most of which you would find yawn-inducing. The above chart, however, is a nice representation of the topics I'm researching for this biography. It's a good thing that I love weird minutiae. A QUESTION FOR YOU: Are visuals … Continue reading Brainstorming Chart
Writing a Life Not My Own
Hi there! I'm Mae. I write things. Some of you probably know me from A Small Press Life, which I started in December 2011. My favorite blogging subjects are old books, dead writers, classic movies, tea, and random musings about whatever catches my fancy. Two months ago, I started a colossal real-world project: researching and … Continue reading Writing a Life Not My Own
